Hylton Performing Arts Center
[Manassas, VA] Join the Manassas Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 7:30 pm in the beautiful Hylton Performing Arts Center, as it celebrates its 20th Anniversary as your home town orchestra. Under the baton of MSO Music Director James Villani, the orchestra presents an exciting program befitting the anniversary. The evening’s music begins with American composer Samuel Barber’s Overture to School for Scandal. This piece was Barber’s first for full orchestra, and it provides a rollicking start to the performance. The orchestra then performs a pair of threes, both by Beethoven. The Piano Concerto no. 3 in c minor will be performed by the guest soloist for the evening, Dr. Nathan Hess. Dr. Hess is currently on the faculty of the Ithaca College School of Music in New York. He has appeared in concert to critical acclaim throughout the United States and Europe in solo, chamber, and concerto settings. He has soloed with the Erie Philharmonic, Erie Chamber Orchestra, Orchard Park Symphony, Western New York Chamber Orchestra, New River Valley Symphony, and York Symphony Orchestra, among others. He completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University. The program concludes with Beethoven’s massive Symphony no. 3 in E flat Major, Op. 55, the “Eroica”. This powerful piece marked Beethoven’s arrival as one of the greatest composers of all time. It will be a performance that should not be missed.
Bring the kids and get your tickets early for this wonderful performance experience. Come and join the anniversary celebration with the Manassas Symphony Orchestra.
