GAINESVILLE, Va. – International children’s charity Kids Wish Network sent Gainesville girl Taylor Scott, who is suffering from a dangerous heart condition on an all expenses paid trip to Disneyland to fulfill her fondest wish. Kids Wish Network is an international charitable organization dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children having experienced life-altering situations.
“Granting a wish provides a child with more than just joy,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director Anna Lanzatella. “It also gives them hope for a happier, healthier future.”
Before she was born, Taylor was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome – a condition in which the left side of her heart is underdeveloped. This condition causes the right side of the heart work harder to maintain circulation for both the lungs and the rest of the body. At ten days old, Taylor underwent the first of three essential heart surgeries and had a shunt inserted into her aorta. Taylor was also diagnosed with a clotting disorder in which her blood clots excessively, causing a lack of circulation. Taylor must take daily medications to manage her conditions, and she must also visit the cardiologist for checkups every six months.
Taylor was given the chance to have a wish granted through Kids Wish Network; she asked to visit Disneyland in California. During an all-expenses-paid vacation, Taylor and her family enjoyed visiting Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure, and Universal Studios Hollywood. They were also treated to dinners every evening and top-notch accommodations.
Taylor enjoyed everything, especially the Radiator Springs Racers ride at Disneyland and the roller coaster on Paradise Pier at Disney’s California Adventure Park. Other experiences that Taylor enjoyed were getting VIP treatment at the Embassy Suites Anaheim – South, and the special treatment she got at Buca Di Beppo’s restaurant, where she was treated to a private table, a chef hat with her name on it, and a hands-on experience in the kitchen.
“Words will never express how grateful we are to everyone in your organization and all of the sponsors of our trip,” said Taylor’s mother, Cody. “Taylor loved every minute of her wish! It made her feel like she was a very important person and it also allowed her to see just how special of a little girl that she really is!”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for making Taylor’s all expenses paid trip and wish so spectacular: Midway Car Rental, Embassy Suites Anaheim-South, Disneyland, California Pizza Kitchen, Buca di Beppo, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Hard Rock Café at Universal City Walk.
